Employers Law Advice on World Cup Absence

June 3rd, 2010 by admin Leave a reply »

Only two weeks to go before the World Cup kick-off and employers are seeking employment law advice on absences. History has shown that during the last world cup there was a distinct rise in the number of employees phoning in sick.

A policy on absence for the world cup period needs to be set out and communicated to all staff. Different rules for male and female staff could end up with sex discrimination claims.

Employers should tell staff that absence levels during this period will be monitored and any sickness absences during the World Cup period will be investigated.
