There will be an extra bank holiday (creating 9) in 2012 to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee that year, business secretary Lord Mandelson has announced.
The extra day off will come on Tuesday 5 June 2012 to celebrate the jubilee, and Mandelson said the late May bank holiday will also be moved to Monday 4 June to create a long weekend.
Payment for the extra day will be down to the employment contract.
